Wands are magical, mysterious & filled with wonder. Their use dates back to the dawn of time. Their powers attune to the person who wields them. Wands awaken our potential to be conscious co-creators. With a caring, heart-felt aspiration to bring goodness into the world, users can empower themselves and others to fulfill their greatest dreams.
As an artist and the creator of Amazar Avians, for me they are all that and much more.
If you wish to delve deeper behind the scenes, explore and understand how and why Amazar Crystal Power have manifested into the world of Amazar Tales. I invite your indulgence, so please read on!
The tactile nature of leather.
I believe the sensual nature of leather is inherent in our nature. We impulsively desire to pet animals. And even after the animal has given it’s life and the leather has undergone various changes it still entices and beckons people to reach out and touch it. I feel that connection as I manipulate segments of recycled leather throughout the creative process, carefully deconstructing segments of vintage clothing, choosing and juxtaposing textures, weights and color.
Touching Art
Overcoming public conditioning that a work of art is meant be viewed and pondered, not touched and embraced is an ongoing challenge. I’ve observed and sensed tension from people trying to resist the allure of reaching out to touch my creations. Even when encouraging them to touch or pet my Avians, they hesitate, unsure if I’m being serious.
When explaining the nature of Amazar Ceremonial & Friendship Feathers, I typically need to urge people to stroke and caress the cluster of Amazar feathers and allow their thoughts to imprint on the leather. As their reluctance fades and their hands embrace the leather completing the process, I often see an emotional response to the process. But even that is short lived. Once activated and hung, my Ceremonial totems are rarely caressed like that again.
Getting people to touch and interact with my leather Landscape Journals or my “Letting Go” Journals is much easier. A leather covered book is an accepted commodity and the act of personalizing them with sweat stains from years of use or even imprinting them with coffee stains is allowable.
People who purchase or receive as a gift one of my “Forever Garden” blossoms are generally appreciative of each flowers different texture. They might gently stroke the stems or petals and smile as they examine the intricacies of my creation. They might even manipulate the form as they examine, appreciate, pose and place it in a vase for viewing from a distance. But once placed, rarely do they embrace and hold it again.
Once is not enough!
I wanted to create something that would force repeated tactile interaction between recycled leather and my audience. My Amazar Crystal Power Wands are designed to be touched and used, not viewed from afar.
The Magical Power of Amazar Wands.
But my intent in creating Amazar Power Wands goes deeper than just getting people to touch and embrace the leather. My Amazar Wands have been brought into the world to encourage users to tap into their inner strengths, to affirm deep desires and heart felt dreams as well as focus their power and ability to help shape the world around them.
If you have a story to share about how an Amazar Crystal Power Wand has brought a bit of magic to your life. Drop me a note and share it.
Thanks,
Ron
